Ford 4600 alternators

Can anyone tell me which alternator I have and possibly the part number? Dealer says it looks like a megmo(?) and they want $249 for a new one. Trying to cross to somewhere else if I can.

Looks like the ones on my 7000, 4600, and 7600, which are Motorola, if I remember right. I took the one from my 4600 to a starter and alternator shop. They rebuilt it for I think about $90.

Get in contact with D&B Electrical on Ebay. They carry hundreds of new starters, alternators, generators for tractors at very reasonable prices. Photos can help them match what will fit your tractor. Nice folks to work with.

'm in for Motorola. Clean up those nasty connections & it might start charging.

If you get a one wire you will lose the charge indicator function. With existing indicator light a 3 wire will be easy to connect.

I agree with the others on "clean things up and see if it works". Use a wire wheel to clean up all of the contacts, including the posts and nuts on the alternator itself as well as the connectors on the ends of the wires so everything is bright and shiny. Don't forget the connections that those wires make at their other ends. Then coat everything with dielectric grease and put it pack together.
