Ford 4600 stabilizer bar installation help.

best way to install this 3 point stabilizer bar? It seems like I need to drill a pretty big hole in the lift arm to run the shoulder bold thru. Whats the best tool and way to do this? Any tips so I don't screw it up?

How far out wide on the axle can I install the drop down bracket

Mine bolts right up to where the lift arm attaches to lower arm, but your end looks different on your sway bar. Is there not another hole closer to the tractor that is not being used? You can install it out as far as to not rub against tire when you have your widest implement on! I just did what you're doing last week, and it was a pita because I needed to shim up my rollbar so that i could get the u bolts under the edge of rollbar to secure stabilizer bracket because I have my rear wheels set as narrow as possible

Looking at your picture, I believe the new bolt that is in the third picture replaces the bolt in lower arm. New bracket on the arm (U shaped steel piece bolts to side of existing arm where the two meet! That little tab on side may make that impossible though! IF THAT MAKES SENSE!

Interesting... Good to know I, in theory, shouldn't have to drill a hole. The shoulder bolt for where it attaches to the link/lift arm is way too big to fit in the hole, and to replace that existing bolt where the lift arm attaches to the lower bar... :/ I am not sure what to do next. My tractor is the 4600SU model; I'm not sure whether the SU would have a smaller lift arm rig than yours. The way yours attaches is what I would have expected for mine... My kit is also missing that washer you have between the lift arm and stabilizer bolt.

There are no other holes on the lower arm or lift arm. Fortunately, I can mount the bracket on the axle with no shimming, unlike what you had to do. But seems I might have a more challenging problem ahead!

That bolt looks pretty big is that kit for a 4000 or 5000?

The 4600SU has the same rear axle, hydraulic lift and lift linkage as the regular 4600. The difference is that the 4600SU has the front axle and steering setup from the 3600 series.

That was my assumption too. Maybe I should just get a smaller bolt and large washers to make the existing bolt hole work where the lower arm and lift arm connect.

A lot of original lift arms come with about 3 holes one about where you are holding the bolt. Would be nice to find good used.

My experience is the original arms are really tough steel to drill through, and replacement arms can be soft bendable steel that doesn’t need another hole to weaken them even more.

So depends on your resources, tools available, what direction to go….

I wouldn't! Unless you can bush the sway bar the same size as the existing bolt hole! You're going to get a lot of "slop" and wear the hole in sway bar!! I would toss the u channel thing on the end and fabricate one that will match your lift arm hole size! JMHO

Ahh, that is true.. unless I could find a bushing, but now this is getting trickier!
