Ford 5000 Handbrake

I have a 68 5000 mfg in England and it has the infamous handbrake on the right side. Can anyone tell me where to find literature on the mechanics, adjustment and parts breakdown of the brake.

The repair and adjustment is found in the Ford Service Manual and the parts are found on New Holland's website.

If you follow the link below it will take you to an online lookup for that tractor. Click on brakes and then hand brakes. It will give you a good diagram of your brake with part numbers and also prices. They show two different hand brakes for that tractor. The one that says load monitor is the only type I am familiar with. I deleted one on an English 4000. It was easy to do. I had the top cover off for other reaons and was able to look at how it all worked inside and out. You can delete it without the top cover off. Mine was totally shot - discs beyond replacement, bearings rusted and the whole brake assembly was a major entry point for water into the rear end. I had to manufacture a bracket as the brake assembly also holds up the rear of the foot rest. A 4 bolt round inspection cover from a 3000 was the same size (on a 4000 mind you) to cover the hole.
If I had a unit that wasn't so far gone I would have liked to repair it. It is run off a right angle gear on the pinion shaft and would be an excellent, positive locking brake. This tractor also had the typical T handle on the right foot rest to lock the pedals down so I used that.

Ultradog thanks for the information that is exactly what I was looking for. Mine doesn't have the standard "T" handle.
