Going to look at a 66 ford 5000 DSL with an sos trans. The owner says motor and transmission was rebuilt, but the hyd and reverse is slow till it warms up. Any ideas what it could be or what to look for? Have not seen it yet. Thanks

If the only problem is the hydraulcs and reverse are slow until it warms up, my guess would be that they put the wrong oil in the transmission and rear end sumps. Plus I would go through the procedures in the manual for testing the S-O-S pressure and adjusting the bands.

Start at the font axle, check for worn thrust bearings at the bottom of the axles, jack it up and check for play in the wheel bearings.
Move the steering wheel and look for play in the linkage and the steering box itself.
With the engine running check for blow up coming out of the dipstick, or from the breather outlet at the front of the engine.
Try the SOS and look for all the gears to operate.
Try the PTO and see if it stops when switched off, if rotating when off try a piece of timber to see if stop then, if it does it is oil drag.
Operate the hydraulic lever and see if in position control the linkage remains still or bobs up and down as the hydraulic try to correct internal leakage.

The good news its a Ford, none of this is terminal but does provide a leverage against the price. It can all be fixed if your bank balance can hold out.
