I have a 5030 Ford New Holland with an 8x8 trans. Was bush hogging and the PTO quit and loud squeal started. Sounded like maybe the hydraulic pump so I changed the one under the right side step. Started it back up and the noise was quieter but still making a noise turned on the PTO and it turned a little bit and quit and it started squealing again. Took the inspection plate off of the right side of the trans and it sounds like the squeal is coming from there and it looks to be leaking hydraulic oil there too.

My questions are. Is there a hydraulic pump in the front of the trans? Because there is hydraulic cooler lines running to the right side of the trans. And I took the top cover off of the trans and I don't see why they are there. Other than their must be a hydraulic pump there.
My next question is how does the independent PTO work? When I changed the side pump I could see the independent PTO clutch pack and shaft that runs the hydraulic pump. But the shaft coming out of the engine clutch doesn't look too line up with the PTO clutch pack. I mean how does the PTO stay running when the drive clutch is disengaged?

I am not familiar with that new of a model, nor the syncro transmissions, so I am not sure whether the rear axle and trans is a common sump on that model, but I think that it might be. Hopefully others can fill you in on the oil cooler lines connected to the transmission.

As for how the independent PTO works, I am pretty sure that it is similar to the earlier models that I am more familiar with in that the transmission input shaft is really two concentric shafts, one inside the other, and the inner one drives the 3 point hydraulic pump and PTO, and that one is always coupled to the flywheel by one set of splines. Remember that the 3 point hydraulics are also always powered independently from the drive clutch clutch as well. The outer input shaft is coupled to the clutch, and that one drives the transmission. On the inside of the transmission, the shaft for the hydraulic pump and PTO are connected by a gear to a counter shaft that drives the output shaft that drives the pump and the PTO. That is why the trans PTO output shaft is not lined up with the input shaft.

That tractor is a bit new for what I suspect your issue is but it’s fairly easy to diagnose
When it squeals does the 3 point or remotes still work, if the bush hog stops but you can still raise it up your loosing pressure on the pto clutch pack, possibly a leaking supply line, broken sealing ring on the hub support or clutch piston seal leaking
If the pto and lift both stop working you’ve stripped the splines out of the pressure plate drive hub and possibly wiped out the splines on the pto input shaft

As for your transmission YES there is a oil pump and there is a suction screen that you are supposed to clean and maintain on a regular basis as is stated in the operators manual
The main shaft bearings are oil pressure feed on those transmissions, a plugged up suction screen can cause damage to those transmissions
On the bottom right side of the trans near the front of the foot board is a square flat plate bolted to the transmission, that is the base plate for the suction screen, you’ll need to drain the transmission before removing the screen
Does your 5030 have the regular 8x8 or does it also have dual power

Yes the problem was the drive hub and the PTO shaft was both completely stripped. Now I am back to installing a new clutch. I can't remember which way the off set of the clutch hub goes. Twords the flywheel or the pressure plate? Or if it even matters.

The disc goes in with the offset towards the pressure plate
Make sure you have the correct style pressure plate, yours takes the diaphragm style

Where did you find a replacement pto input shaft

I have had this thing apart a couple of times today and the clutch won't release no matter what way the clutch plate is flipped even with all of the adjustment took up till the throw out bearing touches the pressure plate.

I have a pressure plate just like what you got pictured and the one that came out of it was the same looking. The only difference is the new clutch disc doesn't have springs in the center hub and the old one does.

F82013945NR-KIT is the new clutch kit I have.

FC563ACN-KIT is the clutch kit that I think it's supposed to have.

Can you post a photo of your tractor with the gear shift levers
Clutch kit F82013945NR-KIT is for your model equipped with the 8x8 synchronized transmission with mechanical shuttle shift
Clutch kit FC563ACN-KIT is for your model with the standard 8x2 non synchronized manual transmission
Installing the finger style pressure plate in the synchronized transmission pushes the throw out bearing hug back against the oil distributor housing in the front of those transmissions, this results in insufficient room for proper throw out bearing clearance and a slipping clutch in the near future
This is why you much run a diaphragm style pressure plate with the synchronized 8x8 or 16x8 transmissions used on the 3930/4630/5030 models
For the standard non synchronized 8x2 you need the finger style pressure plate to achieve the proper throw out bearing spacing

I have personal knowledge of this, the 5030 I replaced the transmission in had a diagram plate, the 3930 I got the transmission from had a new finger style plate so I put it in, a short time later I was splitting the tractor again because the clutch was slipping, after installing the correct diaphragm plate the tractor is still going
As for the clutch disc it doesn’t make any difference which one you install as long as it’s in correctly

It's a 8x8 trans. After taking these pictures I believe the new pressure plate is thinner. I'm going to take the new pressure plate out and set them side by side and measure things.

Your sticker is missing the rest of the model information. DU5 is a 5030, but there should be 3 more characters after that which would tell us about the engine, transmission and PTO options it had when it left the factory.

Tractor was built November 20 1997 which is 6 months before production ended for that model
This was well into Fiat’s ownership of the Ford tractor brand and only 1 1/2 years before production of the original 4000 style chassis ended. 34 years was a long production run but it was sad to see it end and especially sad to see what it was replaced with

Well I have found out that the bulge in the clutch does infact face the flywheel., It will come in contact with the PTO shaft if turned twords the pressure plate.

I have also found that the clutch does release. If I put the trans in high fourth (8th) hear the engine turns with the clutch out and it releases when depressed. But in the low side gears it seams to be hung. The engine doesn't turn when in low side gears when rocking the rear tires and it doesn't free up with the clutch depressed.

So something is hanging in the transmission in the low side. But it drove fine in low before I split the clutch.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 5030? Also would be nice to know what the relays are for in the fuse box. Any help would be appreciated.
