ford 515 sickle bar mower

howdy,does anyone know if a 8n ford or ferguson
to30 have enough horse power to operate a ford #515 sickle bar mower?the mower was on a ford 900 tractor don't know its horse power.the 8n has 27.3 at belt pully and23.2 at draw bar.the TO30 has 30 hp.any info. or experence's will help.thank you,johnny

I am running a 501 with 7 foot sickle with 33hp tractor with power to spare. i run the same mower with my little ford 9N and it run it OK. but was nothing to brag about. i think it will work fine.

7' mowers were run with 10 PTO HP tractors with no problems, a mower in good shape does not take much power, only when the cudder bar is getting dull do they take a lot of power. Keep it sharp on cutting edges and yopu will have do problem. Now if it would happen to be a 9' bar instead of a normal 7' bar then weight could be a problem.

We pulled a 9' IH trail mower with a Ford 800(850)in 3rd. gear no problem powerwise. The 800 and the 900 use the same engine. About 40hp.
