Well, I can only offer very limited advice. A few years back my neighbor bought about 100 rolls of hay from a guy and the tractor he furnished to load it with was a 5640. It had a cab and front loader. I was the person doing the loading so I spent a little time in the seat that day. That tractor was 2 wheel drive with fluid filled tires. It did need a roll on the back to get around with better but I was really impressed with it. It had a relative quiet cab with good visability, nimble turning radius, controls were correctly located, easy to get in and out of and everything worked like it should. It was a tractor that I think I would like to have. Matter of fact I have kinda been looking for one for myself. Just my 2 cents worth. Happy trails....

I'm not a 'Ford guy',but I think a 5640 is a direct desendant of the 5000 Ford.If it is,it would be a great tractor.A 5000 is probably the best Ford tractor ever-ranks up there with some of the best tractors of all time.Dont think I ever heard anything bad about a 5000....

Had my 5640 from new, use it every day to feed dairy herd. My tractor has cab , loader and four wheel drive.Loader is the Ford 7411, built by SMC I think from USA. We did the clutch at 5000 hr, It now has over 6500. Rebuilt the starter twice and replaced batteries, and just regular fuel, oil filter changes. In my opinion best loader I have ever used. Looked at replacing it last year, Didn't care for Case Ih, New Holland/fait stuff. Only JD came close, but the price..... NOT with in my range. So I keep My 5640 , and one eye open for another low hour replacement.
