Going to look at a Ford 5900. Wanting to know if anybody has had any experience with them. Problems and what to look out for. Supposed to be a 1992 model. Will check serial numbers. Has a FEL and 6’ bush hog, tiller, and plow. Thanks.

My opinion is...... that a 5900 is a 5600, that after the end of 5600 production, the factory was moved to south america to continue to produce a "basic" tractor for that market where noise and emissions were not a problem... AND,,, the simply turned the 6 over to a 9...... I have had a couple and the only thing I have noticed is that they were sold with the minimum of hydraulic ports, or so it would appear. And the engine has a slightly different sound, suspecting the injection system was different... But other than those minor differences, they are tough tractors, like their 5600 predecessors and seem to share a lot of the parts. But condition is everything, so inspect it well, and if it passes, enjoy your 5900. The 5900 and later xxxx-S tractors were sold in our area as a economical models along with the regular 5610's. Others may chime in and give us more info.

But made in Mexico, not South America.
My local dealer sold one. It came up for sale about a year ago, 60 miles south of here, for about the same money it sold for when new... and sold quickly.

The 5900 is more like the older 5000 with newer steering and early 5600/6600 nose cone
It has the 256 engine from the late 5000 and 6600 models
5000 exhaust and hood panel that exits nearer to the operator
Oil bath air cleaner
5000 style hydraulic pump that doesn’t have a external oil filter
Not sure if all of them have the CAV rotary pump but parts list that pump for some year models
Good tractors just not as fancy as the 10 series of that time
Neighbor bought one new and still has it
