Guys - I am not a Ford man (althoug I like the tractors, I don"t know much about them). Can you give me the low-down on the 600? Years of mfg.? HP? Features? Would you buy one? Easy to work on/get parts? Thanks much!
Oh - and I know this is subjective, but any idea on the value of a 600 w/ loader in decent shape?

I have a 640 & I love it . It has all the power I need & some . I have a loader for it but never got it installed as of yet . I do wish it had PS though (somedayI hope) . I'm thinking its got 34 hp . Be sure to check it out good . If its in the right price range for you , get it . But always remember when pulling something like trees or big rocks , always hook as low as possible . Tip overs happen to the best of them . Anymore questions don't be afraid to write me . Njoy & play safely . God bless, Ken

1955 (actually started in late '54 as a '55 model)to 1957. Rated 31 h.p. @ 2000 rpm (4-speed model), 134 c.i. engine. Optional 5-speed (model 650) and 5-speed with live pto (660). Can't remember if power steering was an option or not, but it was on similar later models, and if you can find the parts, you can add it to a 600. The 600 series was the replacement for the Jubilee/NAA, very similar, good tractors. Early ones came with a vane-style hydraulic pump (squarish body- right rear of engine). Later ones (and those with replacement pumps) have a piston-type pump (round body). Except for the castings, you can almost build one with the parts that are still available. Easy to work on. If I was looking for a tractor that size, and I thought I had found a decent deal, YES, I'd buy it. Value? varries place to place, and depends on what "decent shape" is, but I'd say maybe $2500-$3500.

I picked up a 640 few months back. My son and I worked on it and got it running including new paint.

Parts are available at reasonable prices. Cant go wrong if just looking for a chore tractor or small farm workhorse.

I have used mine for plowing, disking and have a 19-105 front end loader. the 640 did everything I asked of it with no problems.

Good luck and hope you enjoy your future purchase.

FF gave you goo dinfo. And yes.. power steering was available as an option on the 600.. though i have personally only seen a few with it.

in the same price range you can generally find the 800/801's a swell. if it were me.. I'd get a 861.. more beefy around 45 hp, live pto ( 2 stage clutch ) and a better chance to have power steering.. etc..
