I am having a terrible time getting the oil drain plug loose. The bolt has been rounded over the years. Does it have left or right hand threads?

Thanks

Regular threads - righty - tighty --- lefty - loosey. Get a new one when you get it off. Maybe a pipe wrench and a jack to keep the wrench on the plug and a long pipe for leverage.

Use a pipe wrench . Install a new plug when done with draining the oil . Remember , these GREAT tractors were made before the USA was dumb enough to go to the metric system ; so all bolts are standard sizes & Righty Tighty & Lefty Loosey .HTH ! God bless, Ken

Get a hair dryer and heat the pan around the plug up for a long time until it's hot to the touch (but not so hot as to burn!). That will expand the opening and make it easier to get off with the 24" pipe wrench.

If you feel you have tryed everything your only option now is to take the pan off to see if you can get better leverage on it this way.

If you still do not have any luck might try taking the pan to a truck repair shop where they can apply some heat and get after it with a 6 point socket and a air wrench.

You have about $150 to play with because that is what you will spend replacing the pan with a used one.

I wish you luck
John

Seems the only thing left is a chisel around the od of the plug, it worked for me on my 8n. Tap at a slight angle to the plug to the left.Go around the plug at 12-3-6-9 o'clock,it will loosen.
