Generator has been tested working properly. Idiot light lights and regardless of RPMs it does not go off. Question: Is there a way or the best way to determine if the voltage regulator is functioning properly, and not depend of what the idiot light is telling me, ie that the battery is not receiving a charge from the generator?

I'm assuming that this is a 6 volt system. Volt meter across battery terminals should read 6.2 volts while not running and about 7.4 volts while running.

Yep volt test the battery.... compair running to not running.

remember B circuit gennies need field power to make charge,,so jumping bat to field will full field it. might be in the cutout circuit as well.

bypass to test.
