ford 6610 ford 6640

I OWN A 1989 FORD 6610 TRACTOR. I RECENTLY CAME ACROSS A FORD 6640 FOR PARTS. CAN ANYONE TELL ME THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THESE TWO TRACTORS & ARE SOME OF THE PARTS INTERCHANGABLE. (I.E RIMS, SHEETMETAL, PUMP, ETC)

They're fairly different tractors when you get right down to it... The 40 series was Ford's first major platform redesign since 1965. The tractors don't look radically different at the casting level, and there is some backwards compatiability with the 40 series, but there isn't too much other than SOME of the wheels that will change over without a hassle of some sort. Some of the hydraulic components on the SL tractors can probably be used as the systems are the same in their operating theory, but I doubt that the pumps will interchange...
Honestly, a 6640 would be a poor parts tractor to buy if you only have a 6610.
