ford 6610 ?

so i found a 6610 series II with cab heat AC low hours and in great condition, price seams good. when i mentioned to the seller that i planned on using it to rake, bale and pull a 12ft disc he told me ford did not design it to do tillage and that i would probably ruin it. he said that it was built as a utility tractor and that pulling a disc would ruin the rear end. ive never heard of that so before i put money down i want to ask. I have emailed my new holland dealer but i was curious as to what you all had to say

all duties this tractor is to perform is
8ft brush mower
7ft rear blade
baler
haybine
rake
manure spreader
12ft disc
and on rare ocassion as a backup to pull 3-16 or 4-14 plow
i dont think im asking to much from a well maintained low hour 76hp tractor but the seller insists that it was not meant to do tilliage at all

Those rear ends are pretty much bullet proof if you keep oil in them. Pull the guts out of it all you want, you will not hurt it.

A 6610 is basically a newer 5000, about the best tractor Ford ever built.

I agree but I don't like the CCLS hyd's. I'd rather have the remote hyd breakaway couplers similar to my 6700

Depending on the disc and conditions you may find the 12' to be a hard pull... but you're not going to hurt the tractor in any way, shape or form. They are tough tractors.
I'd be a little dubious about the low hour claims personally... so I'd check it over for actual condition vs just assuming that it had low hours... but they are a good tractor.

Pulled an 11' disc with a 4000SU for years! Ran out of traction occasionally, but never hurt the tractor!
Beware! Sounds to me like the seller knows something about that particular tractor that he's not willing to share!

(quoted from post at 06:49:12 03/12/12) Just curious Jim, what is it that you do not like about the CCLS remotes?
TIA, Dave

I did own a 5610 before it accidentally caught on fire(from a shorted wire under the cab) that the CCLS breakaways gave me very much difficulty. They breakaways would stop allowing oil to flow through the hoses correctly. I finally determined something in the flow control valve on the breakaway was malfunctioning.

I have a 6410/II FWA cab, it's a '91.6410 is a down rated 6610 by 2 horse.
Added a turbo @ 1900 hrs ( 15 extra horses).
It has 9500hrs now and runs like a new one.
GOOD TRACTOR !!!

I agree!!

He talk'n out his rear or he know's somthing is about to blow and wants to blame it on the disk.
