Ford 6700 stuck in reverse help!

I have a ford 6700 tractor 8 speed with high and low transmission. Was bush hogging a few weeks back and put the tractor in reverse to back up and ended up getting the tractor stuck in reverse. I can get the tractor in the neutral position by putting the high and low range gear in neutral. I can also shift into all forward gears.... when I do this the tractor does not want to move and will choke down almost like the park brake is on. I cannot shift into reverse now at all but as stated above the tractor still stays stuck in reverse. Thought it could possibly be stuck in two gears at once any help would be greatly appreciated!

Your reverse shift fork is broken. That is one of the
last things that comes out of the transmission case
during the repair. Requires tractor to be split in front
and behind the transmission.

Remove the top cover and you can usually place all the rails into neutral, using a large screw driver. The knob on the end of the shifter is
known to wear and allow it to go into two gears at once(due to sloppy shifting, over time). The sides can be brazed up slightly, filed
smooth, and it cures the problem. Put the cover back on with two bolts, shift it into and out of every gear, to make sure the shift is in the
slot properly. It is possible that you have a broken fork,(you can look when the cover is off) but I would make sure it isn't in two gears
first.

Even though the tractor will shift into other gears? I thought if your shift fork was broken then the gear shifter would be stuck in reverse completely and not move out of that position. In my case yes the tractor is stuck in reverse I can shift into a forward gear and it just bogs down the tractor and wont move otherwise its just in reverse the whole time. Thanks for the reply.

You either have a broken lower 2-R shift fork (#15) OR a broken upper 2-R shift arm (#17). This can be determined fairly quickly after
removing the top shift cover. Either one will cause the problem you are having.

The upper shift arm can be replaced without splitting the tractor. It will require you to cut the shift rail (#30) in half with a saws-all,
and then have it tapped and threaded on a lathe so you can screw it back together (I have done this).

If the lower shift fork is broken, it will require a rear split only and partial disassembly only if the transmission has a notched 4th gear.
This is date dependent, although I think most tractors of your vintage would have this.
