If new pto clutch & control valve was installed several yrs ago but pto was only used a few times then tractor was used as a dedicated tractor to pull a wheel rake. Now after being attached to JD 467 rd baler pto started slipping after baling 8 rd bales. Same rd baler was used last year on a Kubota M7040 & JD 4255. Hyd filter was changed on 6700 before attaching to baler. I advised tractor owner to get a hyd gauge & check to determine if hyd pressure is close to 2100 psi.
Thanks in advance for any ideas, Jim

The pump in that tractor is actually 2 pumps in one, the larger front section is for the 3 point lift hydraulics and the smaller rear section is for the PTO clutch and, if it has it, the dual power clutch packs. I am not sure, and hopefully someone like Bern will chime in who knows for sure, but I thought that the PTO/dual power section of the pump was supposed to run at a lower pressure than the 3 point hydraulics section. My memory may be fading as I get older, but I seem to recall that number was in the several hundreds range, not over 2000, but my memory may be incorrect.

Thank you for your reply. You're probably correct on lower pressure for pto clutch. I just looked up hyd pressure on Tractordata.com. I was unaware that pump has 2 sections but that makes sense. This tractor doesn't have Dual-power. I suppose the must be an orifice to check the lower pressure

you have to add a tee the bottom of the pump on the little line that comes out to the dual power (if equipped.).... to measure the low pressure side... Should read 140-155lbs, 1900 rpms, warmed up.. 6/3&4.. (Sadly did not show if that test was with ipto in "on" position or "off", dual power "on", or "off".) My memory says its all positions... I have seen the plastic feed line in the trans pop off of the pto switch valve due to a flaky clip mechanism a couple of instances.

The flaky clip you refer to was only used on the 10 series. And I agree, it was flaky.

My 6700 had the plastic line pop off two times, till I replaced the oring with a bigger one to keep the clip/hose on the valve. Was not a 6710. Pressure testing made it look like a bad pump, when I pulled the pump, the line was simply off the other end. Reinstalled it and it lasted two days and popped off again. The oversized oring was the final fix. Maybe my clip was damaged? Anyways, it then lasted for 10 years till I replaced the tractor. Could this be a problem for others? IIRC the second time I only pulled the round inspection cover on the left side??
