2nd question, The tractor has power steering. It has the manual steering w/ the asset cyl. under the front Radiator. The tractor steers hard to the right, but not to the left. I called a friend the sell ford parts and he mentioned that my tractor should have hydrostatic steering for the year, 74-75 because of the Dual power? he says that someone must of added power steering to this tractor? but anyways he said that the pins in the front that actuate the cyl. are worn and need replaced? any thoughts ?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think all 7000 all-purpose models have power steering integrated into the steering column/gear. All 7000 row crops have hydrostatic p/s. My 7000 is a '75, and has Dual Power and p/s... and does NOT have the cylinder under the radiator like early 5000's.

My tractor is an all purpose, It has the cyl under the rad. my '66 5000 is just exactly the same way. Just trying to figure out why it steers hard to the right?

Your friend may be right about worn pins. But that cylinder sounds like something someone added. But I was under the impression that all 7000's had factory p/s, so I don't see why it would have been added. Can you post some pics?

I bet my Steering lines do go up the the steering column? I just assumed that they went down to the front end. when i get home I'll check. I bet the column needs repaired?

I think the pins would be worth checking. Never been into the column myself, so can't help much there. The drag link DOES go up along side the engine and into the bolster, just like on teh 5000's, so would be easy to assume it's the same.

Yeah, just got it home the other day and really haven't had time to check it out. Looks like I'll have to remove the column and see whats up?

i kinda had the same problem with my 9700 it would steer just fine to the left and wouldnt turn to far to the right. the bearins in the bottom of the spindals were gone and the right spindle was complety seized. i had to put a lot of pressure down on the hub with my backhoe and beating the bucket with a sludge hammer and it was seized terribly. cleaned the inside of the clylinder and put the new bearings in and it works like new now.

Dual Power has nothing to do with it. All 7000s from factory had the integral power assist box under the steering wheel.

Sounds like an old 5000 with 7000 decals.
