Ford 771 loader on a 3000

Does anyone have any experience with this combination or pictures of a subframe setup? I'm looking at purchasing a 771, but would need to modify the subframe to fit the 3000 and am not sure how to fit it around the mounting for the swept back front axle. Supposedly, the loader was last mounted on a 5000.

Also, could I use this loader with a front pump? If so, how would the pump get plumbed into the existing hydraulics?

Thanks for any suggestions!

I can't answer your questions on mounting it, but if it was on a 5000 then you would probably need different brackets to get it to mount to aq 3000.

That loader was available as a power up gravity down with single acting lift cylinders, or as power up and down with dual acting cylinders, plus it was available with a trip bucket or a hydraulically actuate bucket, so it looks like it was really designed to be run by the tractor's 3 point hydraulics without a separate front mount pump.

You could probably rig it up to work with a front mount pump, but most front pumps were not plumbed with the tractor's 3 point hydraulics. they usually used a separate reservoir, either an external tank, or more commonly the loader frame was the reservoir, but looking at the parts diagram for the 771 loader, the frame on that loader doesn't have a reservoir built in, so you would either have to run an external tank or rig up some way to use the 3 point/rear axle reservoir, but there's no kit available to do that as far as I am aware, so it would have to be a custom setup.

I put a 776 on my 3400, I believe it'd be similar. Here's a link to the writeup/pics. If you're handy and can weld it shouldn't be a problem. Front pump mounting is pretty straight forward too.

From the parts drawings for the 776, the frame of that loader does have a reservoir built in and it even has drawings for the front mount pump mounting, so it was designed for a front pump, where the 771 was not.

I'm not familiar with that loader.
But if it came off a 5000 it would be pretty big for a 3000. Not only is the 5000 wheel base a foot longer than your tractor it is a Much heavier machine. I'm thinking you would be able to carry the bucket but not much in it.
The way a loader bolts onto a 5000 is very different than a 3000 too so you would be making some interesting, if not complicated brackets for the front.

Thanks for the replies. I haven't bought it yet. I spoke with the seller and he thought it was off a 5000, but he had bought it for a newer tractor without realizing that it wouldn't fit. The brochure I found online didn't list it as fitting a 5000, but the pictures he posted of the subframe look like it has been modified.

Good to know about the inframe oil tank. The specs for the loader list it as using the tractor hydraulics, with a very slow raising speed. I do have a higher flow pump than original, but it's still about half the volume of the front pump.

If I can get it for the right price, it will probably be worth the project.
