Using our Ford 7710 yesterday to run an silage bagger and the hydraulic pump got really hot and started to smoke. The silage bagger has a hydraulic driven feeder belt that we hooked up to the ports and set the lever to run it. What would cause it to get that hot

Hyd orbit motors causes hyd oil to heat. Is hyd oil cooler spiffy clean? How many hrs of use since hyd filter was changed? Is hyd oil level at the full mark?

Is it possible the hydraulic return line needs an open dump to return fluid to tractor ? An orbit motor powered spray pump needs this type
of return. Forcing fluid through hydraulic outlet can really make some heat. Open return allows
motor to freewheel and not stop immediately.

Fluid is good filter was changed around 200 hours ago. I will check the cooler when I get home

How would I tell or set up an open return?

There should be a plug or pipe threaded into a hole on the top of the very back of the hydraulic top cover.

It does have a return line I hooked it up it still get pretty hot but hasn't smoked since I hooked it up. Sorry for the late response
