Ford 7740 air conditioner

I just bought this tractor and the ac doesn't work the compressor isn't kicking in and it's not getting fire up to the temp switch fan works all fuses good. Will it be alright to run a hot wire from ignition switch directly to the compressor that cuts off with the key switch? I done that on my 6700 ans so far so good.
