Ford 800 governor replacement.

Good afternoon
I ordered the new governor assembly for my ford 800, 1954 to 1957.. gas engine. On the interior sleeve of the old governor there is a small bump that lines up with the spline on the end of the crankshaft... The new one does not have the small bump on the interior sleeve of the governor so it will just float on the crankshaft and does not grab The crankshaft
Is this how the new governor is supposed to work seems like it needs to connect to the spline in order to spin

Any help would be appreciated !
Thank you
Darin

Tightening the bolt holding the front pulley hub will pinch the governor tight against the timing gear so every thing will spin together. Was your old governor the six ball type? If so, might like to by it if is not total junk!

Thank you,
That helps! i had to cut the old one off. The center tube is shot but the balls and holder looks good. If you need let me know.
