Ford 800.. pricing

Probably not the right forum, but I'm used to posting here. My nephew was looking at a 8N for $3500 dollars and asked me to go look. I said, don't need to look, too much $$.

I looked around for him. Found a Ford 800, two stage clutch, loader, back blade, brush hog, two buckets, and post hole digger. Wanted $4,000 but said he would take $3500.

Seems fair. Tractor ran perfect. No smoke. idled down to 500 RPMs and was smooth. Looked like kept in garage when not in use.

Any thoughts on price. I'm in central WI.

From your description, surprised it has not been bought, that is a good price for an 860 or 861 in good running condition. You'll want to check out the function of the 2 stage clutch. Implements add some value here, you could defray some of the cost by selling what you don't need. I'd have to think of a reason not to buy this package deal if I saw it LOL !

Good price with all the implements. Great price if it has new tires
and power steering! Without PS, the loader will make it hard to steer.

Speaking of the loader, that would make me want to check out the
front axle and pivot pin really good, as well as third and reverse gears.
Those gears are used a lot on loader tractors and often the tractor
will pop out of those gears when in use after they've worn.

Much better deal than a bare 8N for sure. Good luck!

I sold my 1955 860 worker this past week for $5,000. No implements.

Yes, it was VERY good but it was no trailer queen. Not difficult to find better looking 860/1s around but just about impossible to find a better one mechanically.

Buyer was thrilled.

My nephew went ahead and purchased the 800. The loader has a trip bucket but the rear tires are new, just installed. I have a NAA and wish my ran that good. I'm already angling to borrow an implement. LOL

I'm in complete agreement with everyone else on the price for the 800 you found. It's great if the tractor is as good as it sounds.

I'm just tossing in another angle. The 800 is going to drink a lot more gas than an N if it's only used for mowing. Depending on what your nephew is wanting to do with a tractor, the 800 might be more than he needs to use and more than he wants to store. The cost of gasoline is getting higher. For me, driving into town with five gallon gas cans more often is even worse than the added expense.

No - He needs something bigger. He has 20 acres in northern WI. Will be using for a number of tasks, including skiding full trees out of the woods. Thanks for the input.
