ford 800 what model??

I"m looking at buying a ford tractor with the number 800 in the nose piece. Has serial number 55767. I believe a 1955? Has the two way pto and 3 point lever on the left side. 5 speed hi-low trasmission. No power steering. Is this the power master or what 800 series model is this? Thanks.

so far you havn;t describeb much that sounds like a ford except the 800 in the nose piece!

2 way pto? the only 2 speed pto's in that era would have been an SOS trannied machine that came out in 1959, it was a 10spd/2r powershift with independent pto, and had 2 pto speeds making it a model 881 don't sound like what you got...

3pt lever is not on the left side... 3pt lever AND draft control lever are both on right side of the hyd top cover just under the seat.

5spd hi / low ?? UM.. there were 5speeds.. 5spd with non live pto is an 850 ( assuming it is an 800 series ), and 5 spd with a live pto is an 860. high / low combo trans were ONLY for the 4 and 3 spd tractors. later on inthe 65+ models you have twin stick 6 and 8 spd trans that were a 3 and 4 spd with a high and low range.

thus far I think you may be talking about an 860 ( 2 way pto? maybee they meant 2 stage clutch / live pto ).. still hyds are on right side... not left.

1955 would be correct for that range of sn

post back more detailed / correct info.

ps.. model id is stamped right above the sn on that flat spot on the clutch bellhousing.. so less guessing is needed..

Sorry, as you sit on the tractor lever is on the leftside. One postion will engauge the pto and the other postsion will work the 3 point, middle is N. Tranny stick lifts up or down for a hi-low range with 5 speed gear and one R. Sent pic. Has the number 800 in the chrome nose piece. Thanks

the 5 spd is NOT a high low.

it is simply a FIVE SPEED tranny.

lowest level fore and aft shift 4th and 5th, mid level fore and aft shift 1 and 2
upper level fore and aft shift 3rd and reverse.

the lil lever ont he left turns the pto on or off... it DOES NOT control the 3pt.

control for the 3pt is on the right side under the seat.

look at these pics... the 3pt control is on the RH beside the seat. look at the quadrant.

3rd pic is the pto lever on the left, next to the dipstick.

Again, from the photos, it appears to be a 1955 850 or 860."

"Work Master" is a trademark for a later model 6xx series tractor. The "Power Master" trademark was used on later model 8xx series Ford tractors.

Note: The swinging drawbar and rear bracket are missing. Inspect the differential housing for damage beneath the PTO.

swinging drawbar referes to a drawbar that hooks to a specific bracket that bolts under the diffy and then there will be a hanger that bolts around the pto housing... as dean said.. inspect for damag.e

also.. clarify with the seller about the hyds as they are on the right hand side.

that's a very well supported model.. all the help you could want to get it running, keep it running, etc.. is right here.

If the transmission stops and the PTO still runs when you put the clutch pedal halfway down, then it's a live PTO, and that would make it a 860. If the PTO and the transmission stop at the same time as you push the clutch down, then it's a transmission driven (non-live) PTO, and that would make it an 850.

It appears to be an 850 to me. The clutch petal is not nearly high enough to be an 860. And the clutch linkage is not from a dual clutch. The flat floor boards say 1955 to me.

The 850 is a great tractor. If every thing checks out and the price is right, go for it.

Your 850 is the older brother to mine. My serial number is 57804, only about 2000 units apart, or about 2 weeks production.

You can confirm the model number by looking at the serial number. The model number is stamped just above the serial number.

1955 Tractor
Decent looking tractor. Do you have a question about it or are you just showing it off? If you have questions about it, it's best to start your own new thread. This thread is almost 13 years old, and most folks will see how old the posts are at the top of the thread and stop reading it long before they make it down to your two new posts. Plus, all but one of the people that posted to this thread back in 2011 no longer come to this site.
