Ford 8000 hydraulic problem

I have a ford 8000 and I know nothing about them. Been sitting a while. I have power steering and brakes but no 3pt or remotes, and tractor
lurches forward like it wants to move but it won't pull a load. I have no idea how to even check hydraulic fluid level?? Please help thanks!

Sorry, but I don't know enough specifics about the 8000 to be much help.

It does sound, however, as if you have a Dual Power transmission. The brakes and steering are given "priority" hydraulic flow. Perhaps your flow divider is bad.

But first, you need to figure out how to check fluids. Manuals for those tractors are likely still available. Getting at least an owner's manual would be where I'd start!

Should be a dipstick in the back on the left. If not, the tube for the stick would go down at about a 45 degree slope to the side of the rear housing about ten inches ahead of the axle and about six inches up from the bottom. It would go into a street El, or maybe the El is replaced by a plug.

I do not know anything about the hydraulics, brakes or steering on that model tractor other than what I can see in the parts diagrams on the New Holland site, but if those drawings are correct, then the steering has its own pump and reservoir that is completely separate from the rest of the hydraulics on the tractor, and the brakes are "hydraulic" in that they use fluid to control the brakes, but the brake fluid is also completely separate in a closed system that has its own master cylinder, and I do not see anything that connects the brakes to the rest of the hydraulics in the tractor.

As far as I can see, the main hydraulic pump that powers the 3 point lift has two sections, and the smaller rear section powers the PTO clutch and the dual power and the main front part of the pump only powers the 3 point lift and remotes.

souNdguy has steered you in the right direction for the hydraulic fluid level check in the rear axle center housing.

Steering is different hyd system [ own pump]. brakes too non power. Sounds like a dual power tractor [buttons in floor] ether no hyd oil, or hub for the hyd/pto input shaft splines bad at flywheel.
