Ford 8000 lower draft shaft replacement

Does anyone have any dos or don’ts when replacing the lower draft shaft? I would just replace o-rings and move on but someone has welded the right side of my operational 8000 due to I’m sure the splines being stripped. I do know the top cover has to be removed and have started that process on the parts 8000 I have. Does it take heat to remove the hangers from the shaft/tube. Any insight would be appreciated.

Hanger stays with bar on the left side. It is not removable. Removable on the right side or, was before they welded it. Inside bar can be easily removed. Have heard of mechanics rolling an o-ring over the hanger on the left side to get into place in the housing. I never tried it as i always completely removed the shaft from the tractor. Either way the welded hanger will need to be removed to replace those o-rings. I would advise you to either get a Ford repair or I&T service manual before starting this job. They will have step by step instructions to go by.

I appreciate the info, I’ve got a manual that should be here today. It looks fairly simple to do, I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to damage anything taking the parts tractor shaft out. As far as the operational one, really doesn’t matter it’s gonna have to be cut.
