Am servicing our 8000 .i am checking on the fill for the hyd fiulds /it is just above the center link ,and a pipe plug. Is the level on the left side and is it a plug all so . How much oil

My book says "Be prepared to drain 16 gallons from an 8 speed transmission ,and 17 gallons if it has Dual Power". Hope you have some empty buckets!

I thought book for hyd's said 10 any i am sure i had over filled what is the pipe plug just in front off the sway barson the left

There were 2 forms of the 8000 that I am aware of. The earliest one (1968) had separate oils for the tranny and rear end/hydraulics. The Ford dealer I bought mine from about 30 years ago did not know that the tranny was to be filled with 90 weight gear oil, and the rear compartment to be filled with their form of hy-tran (234 IIRC). By 1969 or 1970, they were using a common sump with the same oil throughout. The rear PTO gear chamber may take a separate fill, but I am foggy on memory there. My service manuals are out in the shop, so I don't have the fill data here. But I recall something like 8 gallons for a complete drain and big filter change just ahead of the right rear axle housing.
