Ford 801 diesel

Is it possible to put the flywheel on wrong, in relation to the degree numbers? I don't remember seeing a dow pin or anything that would keep you from it. Also does the shaft just pull out of the Roosa Master fuel pump, to replace those leaking umbrella seals, that puts diesel in the oil? I pulled on it by hand and it moves down some, but was afraid to stress it too much.

As I recall from my 861D clutch job a couple of years ago the bolt holes in the flywheel are not evenly spaced even though it looks like they are. There is only one place where all 6 bolts will fit through the flywheel and thread into the crankshaft. It is impossible to have all 6 bolts installed with the flywheel out of time.
Grab the shaft with a pair of pliers and pull it out.

Ford flywheel bolt holes are drilled such that there is only one way for it to mount. If the bolts all slipped in and could be hand turned, you're golden.

Be careful when you pull the pump shaft that you get it back in in the correct orientation.

Make sure not to roll the pump side umbrella seal when you slide the shaft back in as well.
