Ford 801

I need to replace some gears in the tranny of an 801.Any tips and proper procedure is appreciated.Info on splitting tractor to access the gears.Does the differential have to be removed and then the tranny to access the gears?

I would not attempt this job without a good service manual.

Get a Ford service manual from NewHolland. It'll cost you 70-80 bucks the last time I checked and worth every cent...
Transmissions can be somewhat complicated when you get down to setting preloads and shimming. You really ought to have the book.
That'll 'splain the rest.
