Ford 8210 3-point issues

hello all, i have a ford 8210 series 2, that has the electro lift. my lift arms will not raise or lower at all, and have codes 24 and 29 flashing. can anyone point me in the right direction on this issue? we have limited ford tractor knowledge around here and would really like to get this issue fixed before this springs hay season. i am in the southern Illinois area if that matters. thanks! and merry christmas!

This probably won't help, but when I had an 8240, if I pushed the quadrant down to lower too quickly it would get a headache and the arms would stop going down. If I brought the quadrant back up then back down slowly it would work.

I would suggest that you post this down on the Ford Forum. Also, purchasing a repair manual, is a wise investment, they aren't terribly expensive.

The flashing codes 24 and 29 on a Ford 8210 tractor typically indicate issues with the
transmission calibration/sensors and potentially the park brake system or speed sensor.

Code 24

Code 24 on a Ford 8210 (and similar 40 series) often relates to:

  • Calibration Error: The transmission or hydraulic lift system requires calibration.
  • Park Brake Issue: The system may detect that the park brake is not holding, or the key switch was cycled while the tractor was moving.
  • Electrical Fault: There could be an issue with the wiring or a sensor in the hydraulic lift control system.

Code 29

Code 29 is generally associated with the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) circuit or related components:

  • VSS/PSOM Signal: Insufficient or erratic input from the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) or the Programmable Speedometer Odometer Module (PSOM).
  • Wiring Issues: An open or short circuit in the wiring harness for the speed sensor or related relay.
  • Low Park Brake Pressure: In some systems, it can indicate low park brake pressure when the brake is released.

I can't address the make and model specifically, but my nephew was having shifting issues with his Massey Ferguson. A Massey mechanic told him that there were a couple of sensors up under the cab, check the connectors. He pulled them off, cleaned them up and put some electrical grease on them. That fixed it. So I'd start checking connectors on sensors. That would kind of lean toward what Mark said about the codes.
