Ford 850 Fuel Question

Hello all,

I am a little confused on how the fuel system is flowing on my 850. I see a steel fuel line running from the shut-off, down by the muffler, then goes to a rubber hose and into the sediment bowl. I am seeing images online where the sediment bowl inlet faces the engine block and the steel fuel line is threaded directly into that without the rubber hose. Mine is facing away from the block - is that the way it is supposed to be for the 850s or did someone reinstall my sediment bowl backwards? Thank you.

Should be fuel shutoff to rubber hose to steel line to sediment assmembly. The picture is from the Ford Operators manual.

That is what I saw as well in the manual... I know the manual is for both the 600 and the 800 so I didn't know if there was a difference for sediment bowl mount between the two different engines. It looks like whoever had this last, put the sediment bowl on backwards and has the steel line going into the fuel shut off and the rubber looping around into the sediment bowl. I am looking to replace the shut off valve, fuel line and sediment bowl and I just want to make sure I order the correct parts as well as install it the correct way. Below are the pictures of what I am working with.

Not different. Here is how the steel line attaches to my sediment bowl on my Ford 840 - same as in the book. Incidentally I have the Zenith service carb like you.

When you replace your shut-off and lines,
Make [i:105f47c696]sure[/i:105f47c696] that wetness by the front tank mounting brace....came from the leaky shut-off.
Fairly common for those tanks to leak where the brace is attached to the tank.....and that left front corner is definitely a place you don't want any leaks.
