Ford 850 Hyd. adaptor kit

I recently bought an adaptor kit for my ford 850.(part number S.68981) I removed the stock plate(it uses 5 bolts), cleaned all surfaces and mounted the new plate (only uses 4 bolts). I can not seem to get the plate to seal correctly. All surfaces seem straight and true and mounting holes line up perfectly. With the tractor running I have no leaks, but as soon as I use the remotes, I get some pretty good leakage between the two mounting surfaces. I have taken the valve body off 4 times, checked orings (even changed orings)and surfaces and have had no luck sealing the two faces. Once seated, the plates are firmly attached to each other with no obvious distortion.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Are you sure it's leaking between the plates?
Being that you said it only leaks when you use the remotes makes me think it's not in the mount.

I have the exact same remote on my 860 and it shipped to me without one of the hydraulic hoses fully crimped. It would seep out of the hose when you used it. Once I had it snugged up a bit it never leaked again.

I don't believe thats the case, but I will double check. I have additional hoses in stock, so I could double check that way as well. Thanks for the reply.

I've not seen that valve before. Where is it made?

If the machined mating surface of the valve is not flat, it will leak. If you again remove the valve, check the surface with a strait edge and feeler gauges.

I once owned a MF 533 with an optional combining valve similarly mounted but with only 2 bolts. It leaked slightly between the valve and lift cover from the day I brought it home from the dealer in 2007. It was a minor nuisance leak not affecting operation but a major annoyance on a new tractor. I had it "fixed" under warranty twice, paid the dealer to fix it another two times after the warranty expired and tried to repair it myself once without success.

The sealing arrangement on the MF valve is different but the result is the same.

I finally gave up replaced both of my nearly new MF tractors with Kubotas.

I notice you mentioned 5 bolt, not 4 bolt.

Did you install a set screw into that small hole? go grab an inverted hex set screw, coat it with permatex, install is sub flush to ensure it doesn't contact the plate. I usually then just take another glob of permatex and fill the hole right over the set screw to keep it from rusting over the years ( and making it hard to remove ).
