I appreciate the feedback.
After viewing your schematics, I figured that out, proceeded to
put them up correctly and still nothing. Does it matter if it is
connected to the battery or alternator be at the terminal or does
it need to be direct? I connect is the negative terminal directly
to the voltmeter. Checking continuity soon. We keep getting rain
that prevents it. Lol.

Hi Rod, thank you so much for your input. Im not exactly sure what you mean by the numbers but I am guessing you are using them in correspondence with the schematics so I will ensure that I have that correct.

You are correct that it is a Ford solenoid and I get nothing from arcing the switch so it seems that it will have to be replaced. Dang it.

A very common mistake is trying to use the solenoid on the right on your tractor, and as you can see, that means you are applying GROUND to booth ends of solenoid coil, which results in nothing.
It looks just like the one on left, so easy mistake. On left, you see thee POSITIVE is applied to I and ground from START switch to S and it will crank engine. To prove this, jumper from BATTERY/solenoid POSITIVE to S and it will likely crank over. CAUTION, be sure in neutral first to prevent having tractor run over your body!
One final note, this ST-542 (#311006) is actually for the X01 series and you have an 850. Will work fine, but just FYI, the 850 solenoid is a 12v version of ST-53. However, a 6v version will work just fine.

See if the starter even works... jumper cable from battery+ to the starter + assuming you have it set up as 12v negative ground. Make sure it's in neutral!
