Ford 851 paint codes

Hello everyone. Please forgive me if the info is somewhere on this site but I am looking for the paint codes to repaint a 1962 Ford 851. I see several different choices of gray and for red there is vermillion red and I also see Dearborn Red. Which one is it supposed to have. I am looking to do this in PPG Omni or MS Crossfire. Thanks in advance.

Hello Jeff;

The 001 tractors used an orange red color. XX0 used the vermillion. The PPG code for the orange red is 71346. If you prefer the vermillion it is 70205. The gray should be 30448, but I would check it out first. Check the link below for PPG mixing codes used by Bradbb on his 55 900. I believe it is not the gray used on the 001, but you might like it. If you go with Martin Senor (sp) paint, I believe Napa probably has a color chart for tractors.

If you go to your local CNH dealer you can buy spray cans of the colors, paint a piece of metal and then have it matched.

For the red you might consider using the higher end PPG rather than the Omni. The Omni has less pigment and requires more coats of paint to cover properly. Two coats vs. 3 or 4.
