Ford 860 Carb ID Question

I'm working on starting my late father's Ford 860, which has been sitting for a couple of years.
He had shut the fuel off at the tank, probably because there is a drip from the carburetor when the fuel is on.
It could just be a sticking/bad float, or a piece of crud in the needle/seat.
It's a Marvel-Schebler carb, but there's not a tag. A photo of the carb is attached, along with a picture from the Owner's Manual.
I was going to take the carb off, and install a kit, but the YT site shows two different kits for a Ford 860, for different models of Marvel-Schebler carbs.
Is there a way to identify the carb without a tag?
Also: there's no spark at the plugs, but that could just be glazed points. (One thing at a time...)
Thanks. I'm visiting from the Harry Ferguson Board. I've been through all this with my TO-20, but the 860 is a little different. I'm glad I have the original owner's manual. IMG_20250427_113113299.jpgIMG_20250427_113807545.jpg

The carburetor in your picture is the smaller carb for the 800 series and should be a TSX-706. The picture from the manual shows the later series 801 larger carb which would be a TSX-662 or TSX-769 depending on the date. Carb kits are available for the small or large carb and fit lots of TXS numbers. Some of the more complete kits which have throttle shafts and such are model specific.

It appears your carb has been cleaned and refurbished judging from the clean adjustment screws. I doubt you need a kit. Disassemble and see what you find. Leaky inlet valves seem common judging from the number of posts here. Originals valves were all brass, modern ones are viton tipped. Anymore when I'm rebuilding a carb I take a small plastic hammer and lightly tap the viton tip against the seat. It seems to help form it. Beyond that, check to make sure the seat has a gasket and is screwed tightly to the carb body. Adjust the float to the proper level, 1/4" from the throttle body I believe.

Thanks, Pomester. I'll be able to check when I see the tractor again in a few weeks - I'll probably just take off the carb and bring it home with me.
