Ford 8730 Transmission errors

I have a Ford 8730 that will not down shift. It always
defaults to 7th gear when the key is cut off and then back
on. It will move forward and reverse and will up shift. It s
giving error code U3 and while driving it gives error code
P5. I also can not get it into calibration mode. I assume I
need to get the codes fixed before it will calibrate. Does
anyone have any idea what these codes mean. I appreciate
any help. Thanks.

P5 means inching pedal switch stuck open, and U3 means downshift switch open in the speed control lever. Suggest getting a copy of the repair manual so you can follow the troubleshooting charts for each code. They are very comprehensive and helpful.
