ford 8n carb

Finally got this 1952 8n to run for a minute or two!
If i leave the fuel on until fuel drips out of the carb throat, the tractor runs for a few minutes- It will then stall after a minute or two, and not start again. If i let it sit until fuel drips from the carb throat, it will run again- I rebuilt the carb and cleared the obstructions so i feel the carb is in decent shape- Any suggestions? It doesnt appear to let fuel get to the engine-

Hate to say it, but it sounds like that carb still needs help.
Fuel should not drip from the throat from just setting unless
something is wrong with the carb.
That does happen, which is why we recommend shutting the
fuel off every time you're done with it, but that is a problem.

Needle and seat because floats not doing what it should is my bet. Shake the float may have gas in it or float is hanging up somewhere or both The float is not metering fuel properly. If float is doing its job needle and seat is no metering fuel flow properly.

A few more items for you to check:

Is the needle steel or rubber tipped? If steel, you could try burnishing the tip to the seat.

Did you install the float needle seat gasket? P/N 9569 in the diagram.

Re-check the seat to ensure it's tight.

I've also heard it's possible for the float to hang up on the rough casting inside the bowl.

Wow! Thanks for the illustration! I"m going to pull it apart again today and check- The float needle is rubber tipped but i did not include the spring as the old one did not have a spring- I also used 1/4 brake line to change the fuel line- but that appeared common to the old one. I bought the tractor "not running" so it has taken me all winter to fix the many problems it had- I"m getting closer to a running tractor now! Thanks again for the awesome drawing!
