Ford 8N stalls out

cellar door

New User
My tractor starts right up runs for 10 minutes and then stalls out. After it stalls out it starts up again immediately. It seems like it lacks gas. I have a transparent inline fuel filter about 2" long and it is round. When I look in the filter there is hardly any gas in it.I pulled the plug beneath the carburator and it seems like I get a steady flow of gas. What could be the problem. Thanks for any help.

You did not mention what model tractor you have or any thing to go on really. There is not normally an inline flityer your can see thru on a N model fors so How about some reactor info and maybe some of the real experts on this forum can help you out. My tractor just isn t enough to go on. Respectfully Devious

Take that filter out and throw it as far as you can. Your 8N should already have 3 filters in the system and those in line filters are made for a system with a fuel pump that puts out 7-75 psi and a gravity system might put out 1/2 a psi. Ya they do make gravity flow filters but most are not and cause a problem like you have

I see now that I missed the 8n on the title of your message so that is a big help. I am goign to say that I would chedck that inline filter first and see if the tractor will run better using the filters it has in the tank shut off valve and the line down at the carb. If your shut off valve is tured on 2 turns, try turning it on another turn or two to see if that helps if the inline filter is not plugged. If the normal factory fuel system is working right, that inline filter is not doing any good and could be giving you some grief by being there. Repost with more info if you need more help. Devious

Cellar door.......iff'n you see gas in yer filter, it means it is gittin CLOGGED and dirty. It aint'chur problem. Keep yer itchy-twitchy fingers away from yer carb's handy-dandy tweek'ums. Aint'chur problem.

10-15min runtime and restarts is almost always yer weaksister ignition switch. ($15, cheap) You doubt? By-pass yer ignition switch with jumper wire and alligator clippies. .......Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

at the moment of stall, check spark.. if it's good.. check fuel. I'm not a fan of add on inline fuel filters..
