Ford 9600 value

I am looking at a ford 9600 that is in need of some work. The hub is bad on the one side and needs replaced along with other minor things. It has never been shedded. The tin is good and has a factory cab with all the glass in it yet. It runs and drives good has dual power which works. Tractor has about 6000hrs on it. What would the value of a tractor like this be worth?

The 8/9000 and 86/9600 aren't exactly high demand tractors... Most of the time you can pick them up for under $5000 for a nice one. The cab isn't much of an asset IMHO. Keeps you dry and out of the wind...maybe warm if the heater works... but is a big rattle box. Usually louder inside than out. I did see one (no cab) bring over $7000 at a sale this spring. Condition of the tires is a major consideration... 38" rubber ISN'T cheap!

The BIIIIIG thing about these is that the block will perforate due to cavitation if it has not had coolant treatment. Test for SCAs in coolant, if none deduct $5,000 for cylinder liners.

Around here they don't sell for very much. It's way too big for a "hobby" farmer/rancher with only a few acres. And the guys who farm/ranch for a living don't want an old tractor that will break down on them at any time. They need reliable equipment so that doesn't leave much of a market for a tractor that big. I've seen them advertised AND sell for less than $3000.

I saw one sell at auction in the spring. Mostly appeared to be in good condition. Had a cab with aftermarket A/C. The only visible problem was an oil leak around the PTO shaft. Sold in the 5K range.

I bought this tractor for $6500. It has 5900 hours and is in really good condition.
