Ford 9N exhaust support bracket

Hi everyone. Iam living in the uk and restoring a ford 9N
tractor. The one part Iam missing from this tractor is the
exhaust bracket which bolts to the side of the gearbox. I cant
get one anywhere! Yes... I could make one but il like originality
and ideally that?s what I would like. Does anyone have one for
sale or have one lying around they don?t need and would be
willing to post to the uk. A picture of it would be great too just
to check it?s right.

(quoted from post at 17:03:20 09/13/19) GB, I wonder if he is talking about the bracket that holds the heat shield?

John;
As far as I know, the heat shield was not OEM!??
The heat shield is not listed in the Master Parts book, and the heat shields I have ever seen on an 'N' series tractor, had built-in brackets, that attached to the exhaust pipe to hold them in place.
Not OEM, Very possible an aftermarket item!!

I suspect he is talking about the bracket that went around the muffler. Had one on my 9N and trashed it You also need the OEM muffler that matches. Maybe something DC can supply.

Yup, that is the one. The heat shield looked like a piece of stove pipe cut in half and rounded on the
leading edge. The bracket was mounted to the flanges of the trans/diffy joint. I'm sure it was very
fragil to corn stalks or tuff weeds. I have the bracket but not the shield. I've been trying to find a
picture of it.

Right side of this tractor. Zoom in on photo.

You seek the 9N-5290 & 9N-5293 Muffler Shield and Clamp Assembly, no longer serviced. nnalert makes and sells the bracket (SEE LINK) and used to make and sell the shield but didn?t sell many so discontinued them. You might try asking the owner Derek Barkley if he has any left on storage. I believe the Dearborn Hay Baler or Combine also used the shield and bracket. You might also try contracting Red Rock Mfg. in Pella, IA. OEM ones pop up on fleabay on occasion.

Yeah, Gary, it was an OEM part/assembly: 9N5252 Assembly; 9N-5290, muffler shield, and 9N-5293, shield bracket. Check your MPC's again, they're listed in all of my originals except the September, 1952 MPC, which is the one that is cloned, copied, and sold aftermarket nowadays.

OK - I thought you were referring to the 9N-5252 muffler shield, not the muffle tailpipe CLAMP. Everybody makes those. Dennis Carpenter is the only one licensed by FORD to do so.

HiYa Big Mac-
Greetings from across the Pond! SEE my post below. If you only need the shield bracket, JUSTN8NS sells them -see link. If you seek the entire shield and clamp, I may have an OEM assembly to sell. I need to get over to the barn and see what I have. I know I have one for my early '39 9N restoration project but think I acquired another sometime in my past. I may be going over to the farm this weekend, maybe. Just be forewarned, shipping across the pond will be expensive. Payment can be an issue as well. We'll cross that bridge if we come to it. My email is open.

I still believe that bracket was a dual purpose, muffler hanger AND shield clamp at the rear and a separate clamp at the front to clamp to the muffler. Your picture is missing the lower part of the shield clamp. MY opinion and I'm sticking to it. LOL
