we have a Ford diesel given to us. It had 841 stickers on the side of hood but were put there by someone, not factory. It has the round emblem which is missing. Serial is unreadable, Fires up 1st try everytime, hyd. isn't working. exhaust is upwards. Diesel engine, under diesel filter has B9NN6015/A under gearshift on rght side has 310835 and under that 93F: a circle made of dots w/ a dot in the middle then DIF2 below oil filter on lft C 92.N2 these are all of the readable #'s we can find. Has rubber tires, center spring seat, no tool box on the runner, or inside hood, it is grey & red, has a wide front. 3 Point hitch can anyone help?

is it a 4 or 5 speed live pto ? serial # on trans behind starter is unreadable you say is it a wide front end ? whats the front grill look like can you post a picture JR.

Theres a picture of it in the tractor photo area. Sort of looks like a 641 instead of a 841 because its red hood and gray bottom instead of the normal gray hood and red bottom like most 841s I have seen

Well if you can make out any or the numbers behind the starter on that flat spot that would help a lot. The nubers should look sort of like this
YYY
YYYYYYY
The top one being the model number the first one is the one you need on the top set of numbers since that tells engine size. If its an 8 then its an 801 seraie and if its a 6 then its a 601 series. I would have used Xs but the filters on Y-T will not let you use them

Look on the right side of the engine block between the hydraulic pump and the injector pump. If it's an 8X1 Diesel you will find "310609" cast into the block in numerals about 1/2" tall. If 310609 is there it will be obvious- it's not hard to see.
I have an 861 Diesel (5 speed trans with Live PTO) and my model and serial numbers are gone completely- eaten away by battery acid.
The grille on your tractor is a 600/601 grille and Ford did make a 6X1 Diesel. It has a 144 cu in engine whereas the 8X1 Diesels have a 172 cu in engine.

That is a 841 by the engine casting #'s.
310609 was used till late 59; then B9NN6015 was used. Some time in early 1960 they changed again to CONN6015 and used this # till end of 4 cylinder production in 1965.

Now did some one put a bigger motor in a 641 or changed the sheet metal?? Thats hard to tell because that grill is off a 641.
