Ford Engine

I was looking on Craigslist and cam across this ad. It was put on Craigslist Sunday morning. I called about it last night as soon as I saw it and it was sold. This is how the ad ran. "Running engine. It' s an inline 4 cylinder motor with updraft style carb. Looks like a tractor motor. Not that I know hardly anything about Ford tractors. I don't know the horsepower rating on this engine. It' s mounted in an airplane de-icer. Will take $250 for the complete engine. The external Hydraulic pump does not come with it. It looks dirtier in the pictures than it really is." I noticed the sticker on it says Ford Heavy Duty Industrial Engine. I didn't know they used these engines for anything else. Thought you guys might find this interesting.

The 172 and 192 Ford engines seem to keep turning up in all kinds of industrial applications like pumps, brush chippers, welders, generators, even de-icer units! They were probably cheap.

I really don't know when they came out.I would expect late fifties. To the best of my knowledge they were never put in tractors at the factory but I know that some have made it into tractors.
