ford gps question

this isnt a ford tractor post bu it is a ford problem, I bought a 2007 ford f150 with a touch screen gps/radio
it seems to need a disc for the gps to operate, the disc did not come with the truck, can i get these discs in places other than going to ford? if i do needt to go to ford what would the cost be. am I ON the right track here? or do i need more than the dixc.

Take a look at it, it says it is OEM for your year vehicle. There is never any guarantee that anything will work. If it was mine I would take the truck to a Ford dealer and have them check it out.

I don't know if they are the same, but I bought an update disc for my 2012 F150 Navigation system about a year ago from Ford. If I remember correctly it was about $125 and came on 2 disc's. It took about 3 hours to load. I would be careful about buying a used disc. I think the instructions said it could only be installed on 1 vehicle.

The maps are on a DVD and get updated every year. Back in 2007-8 they were installing version 6P and now are up to 13P, but the changes are not huge each year. For me, the big change came with 8P when roads in my area were corrected. You can find them online on eBay, for example, and the older the version the cheaper they are, so search for something like Ford 11P and see what you find as many folks sell their older version when they update to a new map. Try to make sure it is an original disk, not a copy, as the copies sometimes don't play well in the radio.
