I have a jubilee with the marvel shebler carb
It seems to leak out the bottom if I don"t shut gas line off is this normal?
also tractor hesitates a second or so in 4th gear when going slow rpms and trying to increase to faster rps is this all normal or does it need a carb rebuild?
thanks

Irish,
If you have gas dripping out the carb all the time, you have a problem. My jubilee, will leak very little, just enough to see the oil filter get wet. I think the excess gas is created when I shut off tractor. Not an issue for me.

As for lack of power. I have to open my main jet 2 1/2 turn more for winter time use or it will stumple when I need power when pushing snow. So if your tractor is stumbling in 4th gear my guess is it wants a little more gas to feed all the horses.

I recently purchased an exhaust temp guage to adjust my carb. I installed the temp proble in the muffler next to the in side of muffler. Ran tractor in second gear while using my 6 ft woods finish mower. After getting a base line, I cranked main jet in 1/4 turn at a time. The temp went up after the first two 1/4 turns. The last 1/8 turn in the temp dropped below my base line. Tractor still made all the horses I need. Spark plugs are white and new looking, no deposits. When I would use tractor hard on a 90 degree day, the temp inside engine would cause dieseling. I don't think it will diesel the way I have carb set.

So feed the horses with a little turn out on main jet. If carb leaks when tractor is running, rebuild the carb. If it leaks a little when off, turn off gas or take carb apart and fix float.
