Ford NAA Block Erosion

NAA has 90 lbs in #2 cylinder, 80 lbs in #3. Cylinders and head are very good except for probably leaky #2 and #3 exhaust valves.

The block top shows erosion inside the area sealed by the head gasket (the metal lined gasket cylinder opening is oddly oblong) - right where #2 and #3 exhaust valves are closest to the block in the center. There is no effect on the head surface and no evidence of blow-by past the gasket.

Advice?

It's not unusual for the head gasket to deform in that fashion. If it wasn't leaking...don't worry about it.

I don't believe the gasket is deformed - its made with non-round openings larger than the piston bore.

I'll probably have the head reworked and hope for the best. I would like to hear from someone who has seen this issue before.

Thanks,

Tom
