I recently posted a message. I indicated that the NAA had no power and was blowing white smoke. The consensus was a bad head gasket. I found no coolant in the oil,so I thought I should search further. I found the rotor to be reduced in length and the points had disintegrated. What was left of the points was white. I replaced both and cannot produce a spark. I measured about 10v. through to the rotor when the switch is on. Any suggestions.
 
you may have set the new points wrong, gap them at 0.025. Your new points maybe dirty they come that way when new some times, so they may need cleaned. One way to check is to take the cap, rotor, and dust cover off. Turn on the key and with the points closed open and close them by hand, you should get a spark when you do. If you don't clean the points and try again. Oh by the way voltage on the rotor with the cap off should be zero because all voltage going to the rotor comes off the cap and that voltage will be very high as a matter of fact to high for the common run of the mill meter

Check the gap as Old said.. and then check the feed thru insulator for shorts.. A test lamp makes these tests for shorts and opens real easy.

Thank you for the suggestions. I was putting up hay and couldn't get back to this problem until last night. The points are correctly gapped and I cleaned them. No luck. I tried to test voltage along the way. I have 5v from the battery to the neg. terminal of the coil. Nothing from the coil to the distributor. I have continuity along the wires from the pos. terminal of the coil to the distributor and from the terminal on the distributor to the points. Does this mean that I have problem with the coil?
 
If you have completed your project, ignore these remarks. A small wire inside the distributer must be connected to the breaker plate to complete the circuit to ground as this is what the points do. The points is a switching device that takes voltage to ground from the coil. When closed the coil is on, the points have to ground through this wire to complete the circuit. When the points open, this circuit is opened allowing the high voltage current to pass through the secondary (large) wire to the center of the distributer tower across the rotor to the selected cylinder wire and plug. This wire is often overlooked.
