I posted in the implement section but only had one response. I'm trying to figure out is this a Ford or Ferguson two bottom plow. I'm wanting to paint it what color does it need to be painted red or blue. It says Ford towards front of plow.

Definatly NOT blue, to old for that. And some of the earlier plows will have Ferguson and Ford both on them. Anything older than 52 would be grey, then 52 to 54 probably red and later with a different style beams would be blue. My plow that Dad bought new in 1944 had both Ford and Ferguson on them. I don't think anything older than 65 had any blue on them, Any built for the 8N MIGHT be either the grey or red.

The answer is yes. To both and also sold as Dearborn I think. I have 2. Both have the Harry Ferguson name plate with serial number AND have Ford in script cast into the beam. The serial numbers are about 500 apart but one says Harry Ferguson Company, Dearborn and the other Detroit. I believe they were built by Sherman.

It was Ferguson gray from the factory. They were used on the 9N Fords. With the agreement between Harry and Henry hand shake Harry had them built and Henry sold them.

My Dearborn plow has a name tag.

I was looking at some of the threads some were saying the earlier plows were red or gray. Not sure what color to paint it.
I'm guessing there was a color change from red to blue tractors in the early 60s.
So is it possible the age of the plow determines the color?
