Ford scoop

[OK8N]

Picked up a $100 dirt scoop today for the 8N. The previous owner couldn't figure out the dump release. I got it to release, but the mechanism doesn't seem quite right. Is anyone familiar with this model of scoop? Does the release look correct?

I have that same scoop. It does not have the spring assembly like yours. The PO must have added it to hold the release.

Mine has a cam-type release in the linkage. This pic of mine is a bit far away, but maybe it'll help....

I have the same scoop too. The spring thingy is definitely an "add on".

Disassembled the latch today and found the latch bracket to be slightly askew. After straightening, and a good lube all around, the bucket performed as it should. The spring tension was also a little too strong, making the lever stiff. It works very well now with minimum tension.
