Where is a good place to buy a fender mount tool box for a 4000 Ford? Tractor supply does not have one and Southern States does not have one. I'm trying not to go to the dealer.

you can buy them right here from the fine folks that sponsor this site!

Tool Box - Fender Mount - This is an aftermarket toolbox designed to mount easily on the fender of most agricultural and industrial tractors. This is an aftermarket item, unlike any original toolboxes, and is meant for working tractors in need of a good toolbox. 18 inches long, 3-58" wide and 4-12" deep. (Part No: TB100FM)$39.72

Ultra, you shoulda made up a bunch of those tool box mounts while you had the chance... you coulda sold another one here!
And if you guys would step up to a 5000 or 7000, with their smoother 4-cyl's., the rattling wouldn't be a problem.

i made a tool box mount for my 3000 that uses the bellhousing bolts on the side.. kinda like my 7610s.. put my 5000's fender box there when I added my rops too. I like em better down there on the right side in front of my foot anyway.. :)

I wish I had a need for a 5000. I know where is a real nice 5610 that I'd love to own.
Getting back to the toolbox:
Here's another way of mounting the toolbox that I used on my mowing tractor for a couple of years. I removed it before I sold the tractor last fall. The plate bolts between the fender and the axle on the left side and the box just fits there on top of the axle without interfering with anything.
No rattles.

Having a tool box can be worth its weight in gold, escpecially when you are a long ways from the shop and need to make repairs.

(quoted from post at 15:07:44 03/29/11) You SURE you want a rattling, noisy tool box on your fender?
yeah, that's where I keep my extra shear bolts for the brush hog PTO and a couple of open end wrenches to replace them. As for repairs in the field, can't imagine that I could keep enough tools ON the tractor for the myriad of things that COULD break or come loose. On my 3600, I've never noticed any noise from the tool box with the engine running. Too busy concentrating on what I'm doing. And when it's not running, don't think it rattles much.

However, I AM considering putting a couple of brackets on the top of my brush hog to bungee down a chainsaw case and can of gas. Seems like I'm always coming across a fallen limb or tree that needs to be cleared.

I am also planning on adding something to the top of my flat fenders to put a small cooler on. Probably be 4 pieces of angle in a rectangular shape to keep the cooler in place with a bungee cord over the top.

At the same time, I'm thinking of adding a sun shade to the ROPS. After looking at the commercially available ones, I'm leaning toward a homemade frame of small (1") steel tube and using steel siding for the top. Should be able to put one together with scrap parts and a few bucks for u-bolts and fasteners. Anyone make one out of steel siding before?

Pretty soon, most of the HP will be used to drag around all that added stuff.
