Fordson Major pictures

Thanks for replys to my post yesterday. Got the Major home today. Tomorrow I'll put the backhoe together & try to mount it. Seeing the condition of my tractor, what would have been a fair price? It does run good, thanks

I do not think that $5,000 would be out of line for that tractor. She looks in very straight condition for a loader and backhoe tractor. Most of these units have been beat up pretty bad. Sweeeeeet old tractor.... Say, I could use a picture of the seat latch to see how it is made. Oh, and it is a Fordson Power Major (FPM) built between 58 and 61. The serial number is stamped on the Block on the right side top near the front. That will nail the year down. If you look though this forum you will see photos of my Power Major being restored. Wow...thanks for reply, I didn't pay anywhere near $5,000. I found a lot for sale in that price range, but, I didn't have that kind of money. For the money I could afford, I found this tractor & I found a 1960's John Deere 1010, I choose this one because it ran nicer, wasn't as beat-up, brakes actually work & I like the power steering. Hopefully she lasts us a long time. Thanks again

That is one good thing that I have found about these Fordsons that are here in the USA. They seem to be a secret and are not reconized for the well built tractor that they really are. Many an American farmer cussed the American built Model F, and it's quirks, so much that the English Built Fordsons did not sell that well here. The Power Major is a Rarity here. To find one as nice as yours is very hard. And it sounds like you got yourself a bargain.
