I"ve bought a Power Fordson Major But have know idea of its age. It has has M27B on the LHS front of the engine & M303 with a large F below near the clutch but not sure what or where i should be looking.

The serial number is located on the left side of the clutch housing, just above the starter motor. If it is there, it would have been built between 1952-1956. If not there it will be stamped on the cylinder block next to the #1 cylinder on the right hand side above the push rod cover.. If it is there, it would have been built between 1956 - 1961.
Email me with your serial #, and I will email you back with the year it was built.

M27B is a casting code that means your engine block was cast on Oct. 27, 1958. Unless your engine has been replaced at some time, the tractor was probably put together shortly after that. Sometimes you will find parts that were cast a long time before they were put together, but not often, so the serial number will tell you when it was made for sure, unless the engine has been changed.
