Fordson Super Major - water in gerabox?

Did these tractors ever have rubber boots on the gear shift levers to keep the water out? I just dont see any replacements available. Thanks.

No, they just have a tin cover on the gear levers. As the gear lever is over the rear axle, water cannot leak from there into the gearbox. What you are seeing is condensation which is very common on those tractors. You need to let it sit a while, then slacken the drain plugs and let water seep out. Even if you change the oil, the water will be back as the damp air goes in and out of the breathers.

Many thanks, I live on Canadas east coast and high humidity is a fairly constant battle. Thank you both.

Yes they are readily available...you have to unscrew the knob to get them installed. If the fluid has not been changed for many years expect it to contain water via condensation besides what would enter a tractor sitting out in the weather uncovered. On buying older used tractors that's not uncommon.
